What Is Military Time Now?
Military time uses a 24-hour clock instead of AM and PM. The current hour is written with two digits, followed by two digits for minutes.
For example, if the local time is 5:30 PM, the military time is 1730. If the local time is 8:05 AM, the military time is 0805.
How to Read the Live Military Clock
The first card shows your current local time in military format. The second card shows the current Zulu time, which is the UTC reference used in aviation, military operations, weather, navigation, and international communication.
- 0800 means 8:00 AM.
- 1200 means 12:00 PM, or noon.
- 1700 means 5:00 PM.
- 2100 means 9:00 PM.
- 0000 means 12:00 AM, or midnight.
Local Military Time vs. Zulu Time
Local military time uses your device’s current time zone. Zulu time uses UTC, which provides one shared time reference around the world.
For example, a local time can be 1300 while the same moment is 1700Z in UTC. The exact difference depends on your location and whether daylight saving time applies in that location.
Why Use Military Time?
Military time avoids the confusion of repeating the same hours twice each day. Instead of writing 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, military time uses 0700 and 1900.
This format is useful for schedules, travel, aviation, emergency services, healthcare, logistics, and any situation where clear timing matters.
